(Isaiah 1:4-5) Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. America is fallen away from God and there is no greater evidence than the corruption of our most hallowed institutions. This has been painfully obvious with the FBI, the premier agency that used to set the standard for criminal investigation and for taking the most dangerous people off our streets. Now it has become center stage as a betrayer of public trust, obfuscating it's own testimony and ignoring serial lawbreaking to assuage its political masters. Now, I am not being a Pollyanna and assuming that the FBI has not yielded to temptation in the past. Yes they flirted with crossing the line as they dabbled in politics for the sake of their funding or special programs. I am saying that the restraint on human nature, we call the "Fear of The LORD" is absent. This boundary is quickly disappearing. The current director has been everything and anything but apolitical. The reality is that this agency was investigating a rival candidate based on innuendo even as it was absolving another candidate who had a locomotive with a thousand freight cars filled with contraband! We didn't need the Russians to tamper with the election! We had the FBI doing so, just like the IRS in the previous presidential contest. Unless there is serious swamp draining and a revival of law enforcement vision, we are heading down the road where Federal Agencies will be politically opposed to the sitting president and ideologically empowered to engineer the destruction of our government in order to preserve their own personal power. Growing up I felt protected and criminals were served notice as Efram Zimbalist Jr. portrayed the FBI's law enforcement mandate from 1965 through 1971. Yes, we need Inspector Lewis Erskine now more than ever! I desire more than an "Amen", on this. America must call for a man nominated to this leadership position who fears God and is aware of the divinely responsibility to fulfill this critical post. Yes, this is something we all need to pray for!
